Jimmy Woode Award

Art. 1 The Jimmy Woode Award takes place during the Tuscia in Jazz Festival in the town of Soriano nel Cimino Italy.

Art. 2 The Jimmy Woode Award is reserved to soloists and jazz bands, Italian or foreign

and is open to every musical instrument, including voice.

Art. 3 Applications to the Jimmy Woode Award must be received by the 30th of may 2010 (the date will be verified

 by postmarks). To subscribe, participants must send an audio CD of theband with technical information regarding

the members of the band, with name, surname, address and date of birth of each member. 

Each band can have a member which is older than 30 ( n° 1 per trio, n° 2 per quartets or more).  

To enter the competition the following documentation is required:- Technical information of each component  

 including personal data, address of residence, date of birth, phone number and e-mail -

Artistic Curriculum;- CD audio with at least 3 pieces, standard or unpublished.

Art. 5 Out of all the applicants, 14 semi-finalists will be selected to perform between the 18/07/2010 to the

24/07/2010 at the Tuscia Jazz Festival. Out of these, 8 finalists will be selected, that will perform for the Award on

the 01 of august 2010.  Admission to the semi-finals will be decided by the Organizing Committee and the participants

will be informed via phone or e-mail by the 30th of May 2010.

Art. 6 The applications will be examined by the artistic director through the audio CD. Out of these, the bands that

will participate to the final part of the Award will be selected and will perform on the 18th, 19th, 20th,  21th, 22th, 23th,

24th of July 200 at Soriano nel Cimino. Participants will perform in one of the above stated days in a 45

minute concert. Two bands will perform each night and at the end of the concert one of the bands will be eliminated

and the other will access directly to the final on the 01 of august 2010. Out of the 7 eliminated bands, one will be

repêchaged for the final.  The eight finalists will perform on the 01 of august 2010 for 15 minutes each. At the end

of the concert the Jury will decide the winners of the 200 edition. Important for evaluation, is taking place in the

jam sessions after the qualifying phase. 

Art. 7 The Jimmy Woode Award will take place according to the following programme:  

- 18 of July 2010, at 22:00: N° 2 bands admitted to the semi-finals will contend access to the finals. Palco Centrale

- 19 of July 2010, at 22:00: N° 2 bands admitted to the semi-finals will contend access to the finals. Palco Centrale

-   01 of august 2010, at 22:00: N° 8 bands admitted to the finals will contend the Jimmy Woode Award for 2010.

Art. 8 Chairman of the Jury will be Shawnn Monteiro, daughter of the great double bass player of Duke Ellington,

Jimmy Woode. The rest of the Jury will be composed by the Director of the Festival Italo Leali, and the following

world known musicians: 

Eddy Gomez, Flavio Boltro, Antonio Sanchez, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Dado Moroni, Pippo Matino, Rick Margitza,  Karl Potter,

Giorgio Rosciglione, Gege Munari, Tony Monaco, Michel Rosciglione, Don Lucof,  Eddy Palermo, Massimo Davola, Antonio Flinta.

Art. 9 At the end of the evening, the Jury will assign the following Prizes: Best Band Awards:

1° place: Trophy, Euro 1.000,00 and free entry to the Tuscia in Jazz Masterclass 2011 Seminary.

2° place: Trophy and free entry to the Tuscia in Jazz Masterclass 2011 Seminary.

3° place: Trophy and free entry to the Tuscia in Jazz Masterclass 2011 Seminary. A Plate/Prize and the free entry

 to the Tuscia in Jazz Masterclass 2010 Seminary will be assigned to: Best Double Bass Player, Best Saxophonist,

Best Singer, Best Guitar Player, Best Piano Player, Best Trumpet player and Best Drummer

Art. 10 Hotel, food and travel expenses are responsibility of the participants.

Art. 11 The organizing Committee of the Award will not be held responsible for any accidents that may occur

before, during and after the competition.

Art. 12 Entering the Jimmy Woode Award requires the full acceptance of

the Competition rules and regulations. These are published in Italian, French and English. In case of any controversy,

the Italian version will be accounted as the true version.
